Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P P5gd1-fm Drivers Software

Hi Guys
i was not sure were to put this, but this seemed the best place.
I have a fujitsu siemens scaleo T PC
running the following Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
motherboard
Board: Fujitsu Siemens P5GD1-FM Rev 1.xx
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1004.001 01/10/2005
graphics card ASUS EAH3450
C:/ drive ST3320820AS [Hard drive] (320,07 GB) -- drive 0, s/n 6QF48V9G, rev 3.AAD, SMART Status: Healthy

For the last week or so I have had constant system crashes and restarts. In addtion I have a slight vertical banding on my main monitor which is only visible when i have a plain background color. I have ran Microsoft Security Essentials, MBAM, Spybot Search and Destroy, and super anti spyware. They picked one or two trojans but they have deleted them. Still I had the same problem. I then reinstalled XP and still the same. I googled the symptoms and changed the video card to the one above, and changed C:/ drive to the one above, and reinstalled XP. things are running a lot smoother, but i still have the vertical banding. And the occasional crash: the system is much more stable. I did notice that on the Mboard one of the chipsets, Intel ICH6 according to the manual, was running incredibley hot, too hot to put a finger on. I have since placed a PC fan over it and its running cool now.
Does anyone think that the ICH6 chip has been damaged by running to hot, and that is where the problem is coming from?

the link for the manual to the mboard is here http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5GD1-VM/e1881_p5gd1-vm.pdf

kwisj,

Have seen this problem several times with others over the years.

Page 1-11 in the manual.

If one of the (4) plastic feet on the HS deteriorates, the cpu will over heat in irregular manner causing crashing, restarts and the like.

Also exchange the ram modules between sockets and check the PSU plus investigate MB capacitor deterioration.

Standard trouble-shooting techniques apply.

Hi Raphoenix
In the end i changed the MOBO and things seem to be fine now. They should be as basically its now a new PC! The only problem I have is that when I fit the PCIe graphics card, ASUS EAH3450, the system wont start: not even get to boot. Could you give me a hint as to what maybe going on now. Its a pain cos i cant use my 2 monitors anymore!!!
new system features
Processor
2,80 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
3072 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded
MOBO
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5KPL-AM EPU x.0x

PS the only thing that happens is the fan comes on!!!I have tried the card in 2 different PCs and no probs. Once i take the card out everything is fine...

Hi I worked it out....The vertical lines came from the screen somehow becoming disconfigured. When I pressed auto set on the screen the lines went away!
The PC was starting up, its that I did not realise I had to disconnect the VGA cable from the MOBO VGA and plug, and insert it into the new video card, strait away. I did not realise that the PC would automatically select the new video card!
What fun I've had!!!

The crashing and stuff must have been from the MOBO as now the PC purrs like a kitten and starts up in seconds not hours like under the old system configuration!

Very Goood !!! :) :)

ALWAYS READ THE MANUAL [ FIRST ]. (LOL)

That Bus Clock ratio don't look right.

Happy New Year,
Rick P.

Hi raphoenix
can I ask you what you mean by ' That Bus Clock ratio don't look right.'? And what should it look like. In the BIOS i accepted the default settings for the CPU set up. I 'know' that its to do with the bandwidth of the FSB. But don't know what it should be, or how it should be set up.
Cheers for reading
